About Anna Galvin

Anna has over 15 years of personal yoga practice experience, starting in the early years of Pictou County Yoga and in a basement with an Eoinn Finn ""Blissology Yoga"" DVD set.  Her practice continues to evolve, and she has enjoyed teaching since graduating from the Truro based Joyful Yoga Teacher Training program with Joy Nicholson in 2020.  Anna is currently registered with Canadian Yoga Alliance as a CYA - RTT - 200Anna currently teaches the Tuesday evening warm flow class and rotates with other instructors for the Saturday morning hot vinyasa class.  Anna’s classes are powerful and challenging, but not ""technically"" difficult - focusing on basic patterns of functional and foundational asanas as building blocks.  Anna has dabbled in helping teach booty/Tabata classes as needed, has her own fitness regime and has begun weightlifting the last few years in her small at-home gym. Anna works as a social worker between two local clinics where she works in primary care with a significant focus on Mental Health and grief and loss, and she is presently working on her Masters of Social Work through Dalhousie University. Anna has previously worked with the local Women's Resource and Sexual Assault Centre delivering and designing programming for sexual violence survivors that incorporates mindfulness and yoga as a way to cope. Anna is passionate about using yoga, movement, and breathwork as a way for survivors of trauma to reclaim and renew their relationships with their bodies. Her practice is inspired by the powerful sangha we have built in the Pictou County yoga community.
